Search continues for 35 missing after landslides at illegal gold mine in Indonesia

The search resumed in Indonesia on Tuesday for 35 people still missing after landslides at an illegal gold mine on the island of Sulawesi which killed at least 23.
Authorities said that they deployed a helicopter and hundreds of rescuers after torrential rain on Sunday triggered landslides that engulfed miners and residents in Gorontalo province, over 2,000 km east of the country’s capital, Jakarta.
The military and police were also involved in Tuesday’s rescue effort, among 400 personnel involved.
Authorities said that 66 survivors have been pulled out of the debris, but thick mud has been hindering rescue efforts.
