S. Korea’s minimum wage once again to be not differentiated by sector

South Korea’s minimum wage will not be differentiated by sector.
The decision was made on Tuesday by the Minimum Wage Commission consisting of representatives from businesses, labor, and the general public with 11 voting for wages to be differentiated by sector and 15 voting against it.
The business sector argued that it has been difficult for small business owners to pay the elevated minimum wages while the labor sector said that differentiating may cause discrimination.
While the current minimum wage law stipulates that wages can be differentiated by sector, it was implemented only once when it was first introduced in 1988.
