Head of broadcasting regulator voluntarily steps down as opposition parties seek impeachment


Just six months after taking office the head of the country’s broadcasting regulator has tendered his resignation.
His move comes ahead of a vote led by the opposition-controlled parliament to impeach him.
Kim Hong-il the chairman of the Korea Communications Commission claimed he was stepping down to allow for a successor to promptly continue his duties as an impeachment could mean a vacant post for at least several months.
According to the top office earlier this morning President Yoon Suk Yeol has accepted Kim’s resignation.
