For the first time ever, an arrest warrant has been issued for a sitting president in South Korea.
A Seoul court on Tuesday morning approved the warrant to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol, on charges of sedition.
A search warrant was also issued for his residence.
No other details on the warrant have been released.
This comes just a day after the warrant was requested by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials who are investigating the allegations behind President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law on December 3rd.
This was an expected move as President Yoon, for the third time, refused to show up for a questioning session on Sunday.
