Acting President under pressure ahead of veto deadline for special probe bills on Pres. Yoon, First Lady

Acting President Choi Sang-mok has decided to green light the appointment of two Constitutional Court justices, to fill two of the three vacancies on the panel.
This came at a Cabinet meeting Tuesday where Choi, amid strong pressure to create the full nine-member bench as the Court undertakes the impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
Two of the justices agreed on by both the ruling and opposition parties were appointed by Choi, while the remaining vacancy filled after bipartisan agreement.
The ruling People Power Party for its part asserts that an acting president does not have the authority to make such an approval.
On the two special probe bills railroaded through by the opposition, on investigating President Yoon Suk Yeol’s martial law decree and his wife Kim Keon-hee’s alleged misconducts, Choi raised Constitutional concerns, and requested bipartisan negotiation.
