The far-right National Rally party in France made a clean sweep, reaching 33 percent of the national vote in the first round of parliamentary elections.
The Interior Ministry said on Sunday that the far-right National Rally party led the first round of France’s elections, while the leftwing New Popular Front came in second with 28 percent.
According to results published by the Ministry on Monday, President Emmanuel Macron’s Ensemble alliance including the Renaissance Party, suffered a huge defeat, falling to third with 20 percent.
Turnout for the first round appeared to be 66-point-7 percent, higher than the election in 2022.
