At the National Assembly.
A filibuster that began Wednesday afternoon continues at the parliament as we speak.
Lawmakers of the ruling People Power Party have been taking to the podium in protest of a bill proposed by the main opposition Democratic Party calling for a special probe into the death of a marine during a search and rescue operation amid last year’s floods.
Opposition lawmakers allege the government sought to interfere with investigations into his death.
Ruling lawmakers assert the bill is politically motivated.
Meanwhile under the National Assembly Act a filibuster can be halted after 24 hours if at least three-fifths of the parliament agree to do so.
