Kim Jong-un visits mausoleum to commemorate 30th death anniversary of state founder

North Korea commemorated the 30th anniversary of its founder’s death on Monday, with Kim Jong-un and other key figures in attendance at an event.
State media reported that the North’s leader visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where his grandfather and father’s bodies lie in state, and attended the ceremony that took place in Pyongyang.
The memorial takes place every five years, and while some experts predicted that this year’s event could be scaled down in line with the process of idolizing Kim Jong-un, it proceeded as is customary.
North Korea’s premier was there alongside other key figures, and the party secretary read a memorial declaring that Kim Il-sung is “an immortal image of the leader of the people.”
